Charlie Daniels returns from war zone

Charlie Daniels recently returned to the US after visiting military troops in Kuwait and Iraq, according to a press release. The seven-show, nine-day outing was the musician's third overseas trip in support of American servicemen and women.

During the tour, organized by the non-profit Stars for Stripes, Daniels entertained thousands of troops at bases in Ar Ramadi, Balad, Al Qayyarah, Tikrit and Kuwait.

"The reason I enjoy going to Iraq is because, for a few days, I am honored to walk among the finest young people America has to offer," the country star recently wrote at his website's "soapbox" area.
