With its debut album spending its second week in the Top 5 on the US chart, rock supergroup Chickenfoot [ tickets ] has booked a new batch of shows for its upcoming late-summer tour.

New to the group's schedule since last check are eight new shows scattered through the West, which extend the run into late September. Details are included below.

Chickenfoot--a.k.a. ex-Van Halen members Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony, Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith and guitar virtuoso Joe Satriani--released its self-titled debut on Friday, June 5. Despite spending only three days in stores before weekly sales figures were tallied, the album managed to move about 52,000 copies, enough to debut at No. 4 on The Billboard 200 chart.

The album will hold on to the No. 4 slot after racking up second-week sales of 79,000 copies, a 53% increase over its first week out, according to Nielsen SoundScan figures as reported by Billboard.

Chickenfoot sprouted from some recreational shows that Hagar, Anthony and Smith performed at Hagar's Mexican nightclub, The Cabo Wabo Cantina, located in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

The budding group recruited Satriani, who said in a press release that he felt "an immediate connection unlike anything I'd ever experienced before" when he linked up with the trio. "After just a few songs, it became stunningly obvious that we shared an overall musical agenda.
