Classic Cash Remixed For A New Audience

A new album of remixed Johnny Cash songs--which features guest artists including Snoop Dogg--is scheduled to be released in stores and online Oct. 14; and a vinyl deluxe-edition will be available on Sept. 23 in select independent record stores.

The album, "Johnny Cash Remixed," puts a contemporary spin on songs Cash recorded from 1956-1959 while signed to his first record label, Sun Records. The remixed tracks include "I Walk the Line" featuring Snoop Dogg, "Folsom Prison Blues," and "Sugartime," among others. The remixers, producers and DJs who worked on the project include Philip Steir on "Get Rhythm," Pete Rock on "Folsom Prison Blues," and Mocean Worker on "Hey Porter."

Snoop, who worked as an executive producer on the project alongside John Carter Cash and Mathew Knowles, also remixed "I Walk the Line" with QDT, his new production team featuring Teddy Riley and DJ Quick.

A short film documenting the making of the album, including interviews from select remixers filmed in their home studios, also is in production. No release date has been announced.
