Coheed and Cambria take 'Neverender' one step at a time

To mark the anniversary of their first album, 2002's "The Second Stage Turbine Blade," prog rockers Coheed and Cambria created the idea of the "Neverender" festival, an event that would feature the band playing the album in its entirety. When that didn't pan out, it came up with something much more ambitious: to host the "Neverender" festival in four cities around the world and play each of its four albums over four nights.

"The next record is going to be a prequel, so why not celebrate the end by revisiting all four albums in an event? That way, we can revisit our discography and all the material before writing the story that comes before all of it," lead singer Claudio Sanchez said during an interview with LiveDaily.

During the first night of the production--which will take place in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and London--Coheed and Cambria will perform "The Second Stage Turbine Blade" in its entirety, followed by "In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3" the second night, "Good Apollo, I'm Burning Star IV, Volume One: From Fear Through the Eyes of Madness" the third night, and "No World for Tomorrow" the fourth and final night.

"Neverender" is the culmination of 14 months of touring the world (including a month of US arena dates opening for Linkin Park this past winter) in support of the band’s latest record, "No World for Tomorrow." The record represents the final chapter of "The Amory Wars," the tragic sci-fi tale of Coheed and Cambria Kilgannon and their family, and a story that wraps all of the band's concept albums into one.

"It's a lot of work," Sanchez said about the three-month rehearsal process. "It's going to be interesting. For myself, I have to think of it not as the whole package, but each night going into it just thinking about that album. "All right, night one, album one." "Night two, just all day think about album two." I have to just kind of look at it like that, in sections. When you look at it as a whole package, it can feel pretty daunting."

When this tour wraps up, Coheed and Cambria will take a short break before touring at the beginning of next year. However, for the most part, the band will focus on the prequel to The Armory Wars.
