Singer/songwriter Corey Smith [ tickets ] has lined up a long winter trek while continuing to support his most recent self-released set, last year's "Hard-Headed Fool."

The Athens, GA, native and his backing crew (bassist Rob Henson and drummer Marcus Petruska) kicked off their current slate of headlining shows last week in Pittsburgh, PA. The outing continues Friday (12/26) in Greenville, SC, and is scheduled to run through the end of February. Dates are below.

"Hard-Headed Fool," Smith's fourth album, surfaced in the summer of 2007.

"We've all done things that we knew we shouldn't have done, and it seems like there is always a price to pay," Smith said of the album in his bio. "But we don't have to wear the past around like a heavy coat. The album, I think, is largely about that. It's about being human. It's about dealing with our selves and our mistakes and trying to turn them into something good."

The performer has relied on MySpace and other Internet tools to help grow his following, reportedly selling more than 385,000 downloads since May 2006. He is currently the No. 2 unsigned country artist on MySpace.

"We haven't created some magical formula," Smith said in his bio. "It's just about writing songs that, for one reason or another, connect with people and impact their lives."
