Counting Crows extend summer tour
Counting Crows have turned their upcoming schedule into a full-blown summer tour.
The new dates extend the tour--which kicks off June 26 in Milwaukee--through the first week of September, with the band tackling a mix of headlining and festival appearances throughout the summer months. The outing follows the group's current UK and Ireland tour; those dates can be found at the band's website, while the complete North American schedule is included below.
Last spring, Counting Crows dropped "Saturday Nights & Sunday Mornings," which marked their first new studio release since 2002's "Hard Candy." The set has spawned three singles, including the latest, "When I Dream of Michelangelo."
"Saturday night is when you sin and Sunday is when you regret," frontman Adam Duritz told the Orange County Register last year in explaining the album's title. "Sinning is often done very loudly, angrily, bitterly, violently."
In March, the band announced that it was parting ways with Geffen, the group's label for the past 18 years, and the only record label in the band's history. "We want a chance to push those boundaries back as far as we can," reads a message from frontman Adam Duritz posted on Counting Crows' website. "Unfortunately, the directions we want to go and the opportunities we want to pursue are often things that our label is simply not allowed to do.
"We've been friends for a long time and we've worked together for a long time so they understand the direction we need to go in and we understand why they can't always go there with us. We all want what’s best for everyone which is why we've decided to part ways."
