Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young Announce Their 'CSNY2K' Tour
Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young announced their first North American tour since 1974 at a press conference Tuesday (10/12) in New York. The group's 34-city itinerary calls for a Jan. 24 launch at the Palace of Auburn Hills near Detroit and an April 19 conclusion at Kiel Center in St. Louis.
The tour, dubbed ''CSNY2K,'' could play multiple dates in some cities if ticket sales are strong.
The veteran rock group has split and regrouped several times since the release of the first CSNY album, ''Deja Vu,'' in 1970. Though the foursome's 1974 stadium tour was considered very successful from a ticket sales standpoint, tensions between the group were obvious; Neil Young even traveled separately from the rest of the group.
In recent interviews, however, members of the group have said that they have mellowed with age, and that the relationships within the band are no longer as volatile.
David Crosby, Steven Stills and Graham Nash last toured extensively when the trio celebrated their 25th anniversary in 1994, the year that saw the release of the last Crosby, Stills, & Nash album, ''After The Storm.''
A new CSNY album titled ''Looking Forward'' (Reprise) is set for release on Oct. 26.
The group was initially on the bill for the Bridge School Benefit concert, which will take place Oct. 30-31 at Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, Calif., but was later scratched after Nash broke both of his legs in a boating accident. Nash was in a wheelchair at the press conference.
