Dar Williams extends trek through 'Promised Land'
With her new album, "Promised Land," currently on store shelves, singer/songwriter Dar Williams has extended her current headlining trek behind the new studio set.
The singer, who has been on tour pushing the new release since August, will stay out on the road through late December in support of the record, with her next scheduled appearance coming Oct. 14 in Boulder, CO.
Details of the outing's 26 remaining dates are included below. Singer/songwriter Shawn Mullins will provide opening support during much of the month of October; for more information, consult Williams' official website.
Released Sept. 9, "Promised Land" is Williams' first album of original material in more than three years. The set, produced by Brad Wood (Liz Phair, Smashing Pumpkins), covers a wide range of social and political topics, and features guest artists including Marshall Crenshaw, Suzanne Vega and Gary Louris from the Jayhawks.
Williams also tackles a cover of Fountains of Wayne's "Troubled Times" on the album. "I'm a sucker for a tragic protagonist conveyed through what seems like a really pleasant pop song," the singer said in a press statement.
The album follows 2005's "My Better Self," which made it onto The Billboard 200 chart. That set comprises original material alongside a handful of covers, including Neil Young's "Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere" and a rendition of Pink Floyd's "Comfortably Numb."
