Darius Rucker books massive road assault

Hootie & The Blowfish frontman Darius Rucker , who last year rekindled his solo career with a chart-topping country album, will back the set in the coming months with an onslaught of live performances.
Rucker, who earlier this year opened about a dozen dates for Brad Paisley and Dierks Bentley, has dates lined up into November. His itinerary, which appears below, is a mix of headlining gigs, fair appearances and opening sets for Rascal Flatts.
Best known for his slew of pop-rock hits at the helm of Hootie & The Blowfish, Rucker made a name for himself in the country genre with last year's "Learn to Live," which hit No. 1 on Billboard's Country Albums chart.
"It's about who I am; where I am right now and things that have happened to me," Rucker said of "Learn to Live" during an interview with LiveDaily last year. "I'm just so proud of the record."
Rucker turned his attention solidly to his country foray after Hootie & The Blowfish wrapped up their support for their 2005 album, "Looking for Lucky." The band remains intact, but fans shouldn't hold their breath waiting for any activity from the group, according to Rucker.
"We're still together," he explained. "We have shows that we play every year. As far as doing a record or touring, I don't think we'll do that any time soon."
Rucker issued his first solo album, the R&B-flavored "Back to Then," in 2002.
