Deerhoof plots to 'Offend' on fall tour

Artsy indie rockers Deerhoof have lined up a headlining tour this fall to coincide with the forthcoming release of the band's next studio album, "Offend Maggie."

The tour gets underway Oct. 3 in Los Angeles, and will hit 30 cities through mid-November, with a gaggle of support acts joining the bill. Dates are below, and information on specific lineups can be found at the group's MySpace page.

"Offend Maggie," due out Oct. 7 in the US and a day earlier in the UK, represents the Northern California band's ninth studio album, and is the group's first record with new guitarist Ed Rodriguez replacing Chris Cohen, who left the band in 2006 to concentrate on his own project, The Curtains.

Recently, Deerhoof released under a Creative Commons license the sheet music for the "Offend Maggie" track "Fresh Born," and asked fans to create and upload their own versions of the song. Links to fan-made versions of the song can be found at the project's special website.

The forthcoming album follows last year's "Friend Opportunity." Streaming video of several songs from that set can be found at the group's website.
