Diana Krall adds US dates to 'Quiet' tour
Diana Krall has mapped extensive US summer tour plans in addition to her previously announced Canadian dates as she looks to support her forthcoming album.
The Canadian singer/pianist's trek through her home country gets underway April 15 in Calgary, Alberta. In June, Krall will kick off a 40-city US tour that runs through late August. The outing's New York City (6/23-24) and Los Angeles (8/21-22) dates will find the performer backed by full orchestras. The concerts in those two cities will take place at Carnegie Hall and the Hollywood Bowl, respectively. Krall's full itinerary is included below.
"Quiet Nights," Krall's 12th album, combines Brazilian and West Coast jazz styles, according to a press release. The set features three covers of songs originally composed by bossa nova legend Antonio Carlos Jobim. The set is due in stores March 31.
Krall co-produced the album with Tommy LiPuma (Miles Davis, Al Jarreau) and worked with composer/arranger Claus Ogerman, a frequent Jobim collaborator, for the first time since her 2001 LP, "The Look of Love."
"Quiet Nights" is Krall's first full-length studio release since 2006's "From This Moment On." In 2007, Verve released "The Very Best of Diana Krall," which is the singer's first career retrospective.
