Dokken rounds out year on the road
Heavy-metal rockers Dokken have mapped a sporadic winter and spring tour of the US in support of last year's "Lightning Strikes Again."
The quartet--comprised of founding frontman Don Dokken, long-time drummer Mick Brown, guitarist Jon Levin and bassist Barry Sparks--will begin the trek with a post-Thanksgiving concert Nov. 27 in West Hollywood, CA, followed by three more dates before year's end.
A handful of 2010 performances are also on the books, beginning Jan. 2 in West Wendover, NV, and wrapping up April 10 in Roanoke, VA. Details are shown below.
Dokken released "Lightning Strikes Again," the band's 10th studio effort, in mid-2008. The set, which peaked at No. 133 on The Billboard 200, followed the group's 2004 album, "Hell to Pay."
The band's namesake singer co-wrote the 12 tracks with Jon Levin, except for "Disease," which he co-wrote with Brown.
In a September interview with the Internet radio program Classic Metal Show, Dokken confirmed that he's working on a second greatest-hits album and has been for several years now.
"It's pretty depressing when you pull up some of the recording tracks and they say '05," the singer/guitarist explained. "That's a long time. We started it and then we signed on for our new album, so that killed everything. [Atco Records] said they didn't want the [greatest-hits] record out and put a restriction on it for three years. Now I pull up the tracks made in '05 and I haven't got a clue what's going on."
No word yet on when the greatest-hits album will be released.
