With its soaring guitars and hum-worthy melodies, the Doves ' music sharply defies the bleak reputation of its Manchester, England, hometown. For its third album, "Some Cities," the group capitalizes on that sound with an added sense of urgency. "Some Cities," featuring the first single "Black and White Town," is now in stores. --Christina Fuoco
