Echo & The Bunnymen cancel tour, blame IRS
Echo & The Bunnymen, who were due to hit the US tour trail next Sunday (11/15), have pulled the plug on the run because of what the group describes as "unreasonable demands" from the IRS.
"It's with the deepest regret that Echo & The Bunnymen have had to cancel their USA November tour," reads a statement posted at that group's website. "This is due to unreasonable demands ... presented by the IRS for the band to enter the USA to tour.
"This is not a visa issue, as some websites have stated," the British band's statement continued.
As previously reported, the group was about to embark on an eight-date US tour this month in support of its recently released 11th studio album, "The Fountain. The set was produced by John McLaughlin, and features a collaboration with Coldplay frontman Chris Martin on one of the album's tracks.
Echo & The Bunnymen still plan to mount a coast-to-coast run through the US next April.
