Edwin McCain even more 'Lost in America'
Singer/songwriter Edwin McCain has mapped out his second major tour of the year behind his latest album, "Lost in America," with new dates taking him right up to New Year's Eve.
The South Carolina native, who toured extensively this spring following the disc's April 11 release, will kick things off just north of home Wednesday (11/8) in Raleigh, NC. The first half of McCain's calendar will find him appearing with his stripped-down acoustic trio. Starting with a Dec. 28 show in Lake Buena Vista, FL, McCain will be backed by the full band that accompanies him on his current album.
Singer/songwriter Meghan Coffee--whose debut full-length release, "All Things Being Said," hit stores in October--will open for McCain on most of the dates.
"Lost in America" is McCain's seventh album, and is his first for Vanguard Records. The disc, which follows 2004's "Scream & Whisper," was recorded at McCain's OMG Studio in Greenville, SC. All 10 tracks were produced by Noel Golden (Matchbox Twenty, Lee Ann Womack), and McCain takes a writing or co-writing credit on seven cuts, according to a press release.
"This record is a new direction for our band," McCain said in a statement. "We are drawing more from every band member's background and influences than in the past. We can't wait to get on the road and play these songs for people."
McCain's longtime band features Larry Chaney on acoustic and electric guitars; Lee Hendricks on bass guitar; Dave Harrison on drums, percussion and background vocals; Pete Riley on acoustic and electric guitars and background vocals; and Craig Shields on Wurlitzer, piano, B3, saxophone and accordion.
