Elton John, Billy Joel scrap another show due to illness

Elton John 's continued battle with flu and infection has caused another postponement of his Face 2 Face trek with Billy Joel.

The duo's Saturday (11/14) concert at Oakland, CA's Oracle Arena will be rescheduled for a later date, as John "has been advised by his doctor to postpone this performance due to a serious case of e-coli bacterial infection and influenza," according to a statement posted at John's website.

Ticketholders are being asked to hold on to their tickets until more information about the rescheduled date is available.

Earlier this month, three shows--Nov. 4 and Nov. 7 in Seattle, and Nov. 10 in Portland, OR--were scrapped due to the illness. The new dates for those appearances have not yet been announced. Prior to the US postponements, John had scrapped several European dates to the illness.

At this time, the John/Joel tour is expected continue with a Nov. 17 show in San Jose, CA. The itinerary currently runs through a Dec. 7 performance in Albany, NY. Details are below.

As with their previous concerts together, John and Joel start each evening by playing a series of duets with twin pianos and trading vocals. The stars then perform separately before joining once more for the grand finale.

John and Joel first toured together in 1994, and their most recent "Face 2 Face" outing before this year's affair was a sold-out, 24-date trek in 2003. The Grammy winners are the most successful and longest-running concert pairing in pop history, according to a press release.
