Everclear maps fall outing, preps album
With a new album on the horizon, established alt-rockers Everclear will spend some time on the road this fall after finishing up a couple late summer shows.
The Portland, OR-based rock group returns to the tour trail later this week for two Midwest concerts: Sept. 4 in Manhattan, KS and Sept. 6 in Fort Carson, CO. The official tour kicks off nearly a month later with an Oct. 3 performance in Tulsa, OK. The band is slated to stop by clubs and theaters in 13 cities before the Nov. 14 conclusion in Scottsdale. Further tour details are below.
Also on the itinerary are two initial dates for the "Open Wings - Broken Strings Tour," for which Everclear frontman Art Alexakis will join forces with Eddie Kowalczyk of Live and Leigh Nash of Sixpence None the Richer. The intimate acoustic tour will take the trio of singer/songwriters across the nation, beginning Oct. 23 in Stroudsburg, PA. More dates will be announced in the near future, according to the Everclear website.
"We're playing all the songs you know and love and sharing stories behind them in a really unique and compelling way," Alexakis said of the acoustic run on Everclear's website.
Earlier this summer, Everclear signed a multi-album deal with 429 Records and will release "In a Different Light," an album featuring new versions of previous hits and two new songs, Oct. 6.
Everclear most recently released "Welcome to the Drama Club," which surfaced in 2006. The band is preparing an album of new material for a spring 2010 drop, according to a recent press release.
