In sharp contrast to the huge crowd they performed for at Lollapalooza, the Arctic Monkeys gave fans a chance to see them up close and personal on Friday (8/7) at 1,100-capacity Chicago club the Metro.

With 7 years behind them, the UK alt-rock group seem to have secured a spot in the mainstream. Helped in no small part by the success of their 2006 single "I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor." The track peaked at No. 7 on the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart and topped the UK Top 40 Singles chart. Although the Arctic Monkeys are now headed for the Oya Festival in Norway, they will be back stateside next month (9/14) to kick off a fall run in San Diego.

LiveDaily photographer Lyle A. Waisman attended the aforementioned show at the Metro, and here are some of his shots.
