What started off as a lark is now the band Chickenfoot . Featuring frontman Sammy Hagar and fellow Van Halen alum Michael Anthony on bass, along with guitar virtuoso Joe Satriani and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith , the group first got together while having fun and jamming at Hagar's Cabo Wabo Cantina, in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
Forming a new group apparently was the last thing on any of their minds, according to a statement on Chickenfoot's MySpace page, "The minute we started jamming, it was obvious, like, 'This is something that needs to be heard,'" Hagar said.
The group plans to release its self-titled debut on June 9. In the meantime, Chickenfoot is hitting the road on its first tour through the end of this month. LiveDaily's Tim Mosendfelder caught their show at the Fillmore in San Francisco on Sunday (5/17), and here are some of his shots.
