If you're looking for a concert experience with all the bells and whistles, Trans-Siberian Orchestra is just the ticket. In what has become a winter holiday tradition, the massive New York-based group of more than 60 members splits into to two factions and takes to the road.
Formed more than 20 years ago by producer Paul O'Neill ( Aerosmith , Scorpions ), the symphonic-rock band is built for rock operas. Highlighted by an epic pyrotechnics and laser-light show, synchronized to the music, TSO performs a mix of classical prog-rock and heavy metal. In keeping with the season, the band always includes renditions of traditional Christmas songs.
The family-friendly group will be playing both afternoon and evening shows on its current tour, which continues tomorrow (11/19) in Charleston, SC. Numerous stops are planned all across the US and Canada through the first week of January.
Contributing photographer Tim Mosenfelder attended Trans-Siberian Orchestra's show Sunday (11/16) at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, CA, and here are some of the photos he took.
