Usher was still in high school in 1993 when he was discovered as a contestant on the TV show "Star Search." The then-13-year-old R&B singer quickly found himself recording music for the soundtrack to "Poetic Justice," a film staring Janet Jackson and the late Tupac Shakur .

The following year, Usher's self-titled debut landed at No. 25 on Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Album chart. Success began in earnest in 1997 with his hit single "You Make Me Wanna," which secured the artist a supporting role on tours with Puff Daddy and Janet Jackson.

With five Grammy Awards under his belt and four of his five his studio albums certified multi-platinum, the former choir-boy and now family man is wrapping up his current tour in support of his latest set "Here I Stand."

Contributing photographer Tim Mosenfelder attended Usher's San Francisco show on Tuesday night (11/18), and here are some of the photos he took.
