Glen Phillips keeps busy with new tour dates, recording sessions

Singer/songwriter Glen Phillips has lined up headlining dates for the first four months of next year as he continues to juggle a busy schedule of both solo and collaborative projects.

The former Toad the Wet Sprocket frontman will kick off his 2008 commitments Jan. 19 in Miami, with a second Miami show set for Jan. 24. The outing stretches into April, with shows currently scheduled for 17 cities. Dates are shown below.

Phillips, who continues to tour behind his third solo album, last year's self-released "Mr. Lemons," spent 13 years as the main singer/songwriter for Toad the Wet Sprocket, which chalked up the Top 40 singles "All I Want," "Walk on the Ocean" and "Fall Down," and the platinum albums "Fear" and "Dulcinea." The band, which originally called it quits in 1998, reunited last summer for a 34-date US tour.

Phillips recently announced on his website that he would be entering the studio soon to record a new Mutual Admiration Society album with Sara and Sean Watkins of Nickel Creek, along with Pete Thomas and Davey Faragher of Elvis Costello's band.

"I'm scared to death, and extremely excited, too," Phillips wrote on his site. "This will be much more of a band album than MAS was. Everyone is writing and singing lead, and the energy level will be a good deal higher." The first Mutual Admiration Society collaboration spawned a self-titled debut set which hit stores in 2004.

Phillips also recently announced online that he plans to record an album with fellow singer/songwriters Neilson Hubbard and Garrison Starr.
