Gov't Mule trots out late-year tour dates
Southern-fried jam-rockers Gov't Mule have mapped out a fall tour following guitarist Warren Haynes' roadwork with his other employer, The Allman Brothers Band.
Gov't Mule, which also is scheduled to play a pair of Colorado dates during the next month, will kick off the run Oct. 30 in Burlington, VT, and the outing will hit 15 cities, with indie blues-rockers Back Door Slam providing support. Dates are below.
Gov't Mule continues to support its 2006 studio release, "High and Mighty," which was co-produced by the band's guitarist/vocalist, Warren Haynes, and former Big Sugar leader Gordie Johnson. The set broke into The Billboard 200 and reached No. 9 on the Top Independent Albums chart.
The group has also been churning out live recordings through its MuleTracks website, which just released the limited-edition double CD "The Holy Haunted House." The set features Gov't Mule's 2007 Halloween show at St. Paul, MN's O'Shaughnessy Theatre, which included a performance of the full Led Zeppelin album "Houses of the Holy."
The band's latest DVD, a 2-disc set titled "Tail of 2 Cities," is nearing release. The video package features two complete shows, one from the last night of the group's 2004 "Deja Voodoo" tour in Boston, and the other from Chicago in December 2006 at the start of the band's "High & Mighty" tour. The two DVDs cover more than six hours of performances, interviews and backstage features.
Gov't Mule formed in 1994 as a power-trio offshoot of The Allman Brothers Band. The latest lineup comprises Haynes, drummer Matt Abts, keyboardist Danny Louis and bassist Andy Hess.
