Harper Simon backs debut set with US club run
New York-based singer/songwriter Harper Simon has plotted a West Coast tour to close out his 2009 tour schedule behind his recently released self-titled debut.
The musician--son of iconic performer Paul Simon--continues the in-progress trek tonight (11/24) in Minneapolis, followed by 11 club performances up and down the West Coast. The itinerary, which also includes a Dec. 6 appearance opening for Beach Boy Brian Wilson, concludes Dec. 18 in Los Angeles. Details are below.
Accompanying Simon on the club trek will be bassist Erik Paparazzi (Cat Power), drummer Russell Simins (Jon Spencer Blues Explosion) and guitarist Mike Bloom (The Elected), as well as special guests Money Mark, Farmer Dave Scher and The Chapin Sisters.
The Chapin Sisters will also provide opening support for the run.
Simon released his self-titled debut in October on his own Tulsi Records. The performer produced the effort himself in a Nashville studio with the help of several musicians, including Charlie McCoy (harmonica), Gene Chrisman (drums), Mike Leech (bass), Hargus Robbins (piano) and Al Perkins (guitar), among others. Guest vocalists featured on the set include Sean Lennon, Joan Wasser, Aaron Espinoza and Simon's father.
