Hopeful signs for injured Deftones bassist

Deftones bassist Chi Cheng, who was seriously injured in a car accident Nov. 5, has survived the critical first 72 hours and is in stable condition. Though he remains in a coma, he is showing signs of improvement and his doctors are expecting a recovery, according to the band's MySpace blog.

Cheng reportedly was able to hear and respond to his father's request to move his lower lip. He also responded to a tendon reflex test.

During Cheng's recovery, his mother has asked fans to show their support by spreading a little bit of good in his name each day. She has asked fans to remind loved ones to buckle up, tell someone you love them, use a designated driver if drinking, forgive someone, and give a homeless person a blanket, some warm clothes or some food.

Daily good deed suggestions can be found on the blog at the band's MySpace page.
