Huey Lewis & The News trek across the US
Huey Lewis & The News are keeping a steady pace on the road through summer, playing US shows from coast to coast.
The band is set to resume its tour May 10 in Leesburg, VA, and visit a handful of concert venues and festivals in the East and South through July. Things pick up in August, when Lewis and company head West, and then make their way back across the country through late September, stopping by Richmond, British Columbia, along the way. A few performances on the itinerary are free. Details are listed below.
Huey Lewis & The News were recently tapped by actor Seth Rogen to record the theme song for his upcoming film, "Pineapple Express," according to E Online. The comedy is scheduled for an August release.
The group hasn't put out a studio album since 2001's "Plan B," and that marked the News' first set of new material since 1991's "Hard at Play." However, Lewis has told various reporters that he's working on a new record.
In 2005, Huey Lewis & The News celebrated their 25th anniversary with "Live at 25," a CD and DVD that were recorded during a December 2004 two-night stand in Chico, CA.
The band, best known for its '80s-era batch of hits, has continued to tour steadily over the years. Their 1983 release, "Sports," remains Lewis & the News' best-selling album to date on the strength of Top 10 hits "I Want a New Drug," "The Heart of Rock & Roll," "If This Is It" and "Heart and Soul." That set has been certified seven-times platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America.
