Joe Cocker extends US summer run

English singer Joe Cocker has extended his impending summer, tacking a handful of July dates onto the North American jaunt.

The spring and summer trek, which gets underway today (4/17) in St. Augustine, FL, has an additional 20 stops since last check. The new July dates will return the musician to the East Coast with performances scheduled in Hyannis, MA (7/3), Atlantic City, NJ (7/4) and Baltimore, MD (7/14), among others. The summer road trip concludes with a July 18 concert in Memphis. The full itinerary is below.

Cocker is pounding the pavement behind his most recent studio album, "Hymn For My Soul," which emerged in May 2008 and peaked at No. 9 on Billboard's Top Christian Albums chart. The record featured the legendary singer's take on vintage songs like Bob Dylan's "Ring Them Bells," Stevie Wonder's "You Haven't Done Nothin'" and Percy Mayfield's "River's Invitation." Cocker's version of the Beatles' classic "Come Together," featured in the Oscar-nominated film "Across the Universe," also made the album.

Known for his signature scratchy vocals, Cocker is most recognized for "With A Little Help From My Friends," a 1968 single that hit No. 1 on UK charts, and "Up Where We Belong," a chart-topping duet alongside Jennifer Warnes that made the soundtrack for the 1982 classic film "An Officer and a Gentleman."
