Josh Turner looks forward to busy summer
Country crooner Josh Turner has carved out a generous slice of concert work this summer as he continues to support last year's "Everything is Fine."
The singer/songwriter, who last year became one of the youngest artists ever inducted into the Grand Ole Opry, will gradually ramp up his schedule over the summer months, peaking in August with a string of state and county fair dates. The singer's next appearance comes tonight (7/16) in Monticello, IA, and his itinerary shows 20 cities remaining on an outing that extends through mid-October. Dates are below.
Turner's most recent album and third for MCA Nashville, "Everything is Fine," was released last October. The set, which debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 chart--selling 84,000 copies during its first week in stores--also spawned Turner's third Top 10 single in ""Firecracker," which peaked at No. 2 on Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart.
Turner said on his website that the music on "Everything is Fine" is grounded in the sort of traditional country sounds he grew up hearing.
"Growing up, traditional country music was always where my heart was at, because those songs were speaking about the life that I was living in rural South Carolina," he said in his online bio. "It was all about love and work and life and just the everyday stuff that people go through. It has always made me feel good--the melodies, the lyrics--so that's what I'm trying to carry on."
