Juliana Hatfield books short December run
Singer/songwriter Juliana Hatfield has assembled a few dates around the Midwest next month to support her latest solo effort, "How to Walk Away."
The trek is currently set to kick off Dec. 2 in Chicago and visit Milwaukee; Kansas City, MO; and Lexington, KY. Details are included below.
The shows remain on the docket despite Hatfield's recent release from an eating-disorders rehab facility. In a brutally honest blog posting at her website, the performer said she was dehydrated and anemic due to malnutrition.
"I didn't realize the seriousness of my problem until I had already entered dangerous territory," Hatfield explained.
The blog goes on to discuss details of her illness and her stay in rehab, which apparently ended about a week ago.
Hatfield toured earlier this fall to showcase songs from her 10th solo album, "How to Walk Away," which surfaced in August on her own Ye Olde Records label. The set pairs the singer with producer Andy Chase (Fountains of Wayne, Smashing Pumpkins) and features guest spots by Richard Butler of The Psychedelic Furs, Matthew Caws of Nada Surf, Jody Porter of Fountains of Wayne and Tracy Bonham on violin. A few tunes from the album are streaming at Hatfield's MySpace page.
The singer/writer, who has been working as a recording artist for 20 years, followed "How to Walk Away" in September with her autobiography, "When I Grow Up: A Memoir."
