Kasabian spreads its 'Empire' during fall tour
British rockers Kasabian jump across the pond this fall for a month-long tour on the US club and theater circuit that will back the group's forthcoming sophomore album, "Empire."
The run launches Sept. 17 in Boston, and is scheduled to touch down in 15 cities by the time it wraps up on the West Coast exactly one month later. Included in the itinerary is a Sept. 23 performance at the inaugural US Virgin Festival. Details are shown below.
Scheduled for a Sept. 19 release, "Empire" is Kasabian's follow-up to its critically acclaimed 2004 self-titled debut. The group recorded the new set with producer Jim Abiss (Arctic Monkeys, Placebo, Paul Oakenfold), and finished the bulk of the disc during a five-week period, according to a press release.
The first single from "Empire" is the album's title track, the music video for which is streaming at Kasabian's website. Band frontman Tom Meighan describes the cut as "Marc Bolan smoking crack with Dr Who," according to a press release.
"While much of their first album, was forged in the crucible of an uncertain wider world, 'Empire' is not only a more personal record but a darker and sexier one," the group's label, RCA Records, said in the release, "a memoir of two extreme years on the road and a postcard from a surreal reality."
To help launch "Empire," Kasabian will make a Sept. 14 appearance on "The Late Show with David Letterman."
Before tackling its US roadwork, Kasabian will open several UK shows for The Rolling Stones, and plans to follow the US trek with a UK outing. More information is posted at the group's website.
