"Just Me," which surfaced in May, is Sweat's first new studio recording since 2002's "Rebirth." The latest set debuted at No. 10 on The Billboard 200 and claimed the top spot on the R&B/hip-hop albums chart. Lead single "Suga Suga Suga" featuring Paisley Bettis made it into the Top 40 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and the track "Butterscotch" featuring Athena Cage is currently making waves at adult/R&B radio. Both songs are streaming at Sweat's MySpace page.
The performer said he called the record "Just Me" because it gives fans what they expect from him.
"You hear other artists out here who make the mistake of trying to be trendy. They really try to keep up," the singer/producer explained in a statement. "I know people want to hear Keith Sweat. I'm conscious of the people who have followed me the whole time, since day one. I remember that I have a fan base and I'm very careful to give the people what they expect from me."
Last November, Sweat also put out "A Christmas of Love," his first set of holiday music.
The R&B/soulman first broke through as a leader in the "new jack" era of the late '80s with the No. 1 single "I Want Her." He has since sold more than 15 million albums worldwide and racked up three multi-platinum, three platinum and two gold album awards, according to a press release.
Sweat also hosts a weekly syndicated radio show, "The Keith Sweat Hotel," which airs in more than 30 markets nationwide.
