Lifehouse warms up for US trek
Alt-rockers Lifehouse are getting ready to return to the road with a new slate of North American dates.
The trek is set to launch Feb. 24 in Spokane, WA, and make its way from the West Coast to the East Coast through mid-April. Matt Nathanson and HoneyHoney will support all dates, which are listed below.
Lifehouse is warming up for the tour by performing acoustic sets in small venues like radio stations and shopping malls, according to The Citizens Voice of Wilkes-Barre, PA.
The California trio spent last summer supporting the Goo Goo Dolls and mounted an extensive headlining run in the fall to back its June release, "Who We Are," which reached No. 14 on The Billboard 200. The set is Lifehouse's fourth Geffen Records album in seven years and marks the band's first time sharing production duties. So far, "Who We Are" has spawned adult-contemporary and pop singles "Whatever it Takes" and "First Time."
Lifehouse was in the news late last year for recording a new song, "From Where You Are," for an Allstate commercial. Frontman Jason Wade composed the track to support Allstate's teen safe driving program, which aims to educate parents and teens about the risks associated with teen driving.
"When Allstate approached me about this wonderful opportunity, I knew immediately it was something I wanted to be involved with," Wade said in a statement. "In fact, I started writing this song before we even talked formally about what my role would be because I feel so strongly about this cause. Anything I can do to reach out to teens and parents and get them to start talking about safe driving means a lot to me."
The members of Lifehouse, who are still in their 20s, have sold more than 5 million albums during their career, according to a press release. Their multiplatinum 2000 debut, "No Name Face," spawned the mega hit "Hanging by a Moment." The group's latest set follows its self-titled, platinum-selling 2005 offering, which scored another major hit with "You and Me." That single set a record by spending more than 60 weeks on Billboard's Hot 100 chart, according to Lifehouse's bio.
