Liza Minnelli readies new Broadway show

Liza Minnelli returns to Broadway this winter with a new show, "Liza's At The Palace ...!," which will run from Dec. 3-14, according to a press release.

Minnelli, with a 12-piece orchestra, will perform her signature hits and her personal favorites, including "New York New York" and "Cabaret."

Following the concert portion of the show, Minnelli and a quartet of singer/dancers, will pay tribute to the late-1940s nightclub act of her godmother, Kay Thompson, whose hits include "I Love a Violin," "Clap Yo' Hands" and "Jubilee Time."

Minnelli will perform nine shows during the two-week run at the Palace Theatre, located at Broadway and 47th Street. At her request, $25 first row seats will be made available at the box office by daily lottery.

In other news, the label Collector's Choice will release, for the first time on CD, Minnelli's entire catalog for A&M Records, which includes four albums originally released from 1968 through 1972, a single, and several outtakes. The two-CD set will hit stores Nov. 25, according to a press release.
