Mae lines up new spring dates
Indie-rockers Mae have mapped out another headlining run, this one kicking off in April, as the band continues to support it's most recent studio set, "Singularity."
The group, which is currently in the middle of a winter headlining outing that continues Feb. 13 in State College, PA, will launch the spring branch of the tour April 17 in Radnor, PA, and continue through late May. Details are included below.
The band--singer/guitarist Dave Elkins, drummer Jacob Marshall and guitarist Zach Gehring (bassist Mark Padgett and keyboardist Rob Sweitzer recently exited the group)--is supporting its third album, "Singularity," which surfaced in mid-2007 and reached No. 40 on The Billboard 200.
Elkins said in a press statement that "Singularity" exemplifies Mae's growth over the years, and is the best collection of material the band has written to date.
"The five of us understand each other's strengths and weaknesses now more than ever, and over the past couple years, that momentum has continued to change and grow our band in really positive ways," the frontman said.
The group, which continues to work on its fourth studio album, plans to release a new song each month in 2009 to help fund humanitarian projects. Each song will be available as a digital download from the band's website for a minimum donation of one dollar. The group's current charity song, "The House That Fire Built," benefits Habitat For Humanity.
"I think you really feel the impact of community most in moments of struggle," Gehring recently told Relevant Magazine. "If you've ever helped someone in a moment of need--or if you've ever been in need and been helped by someone randomly--that's a testament to the power of love. And true love is love that’s not looking for reciprocation ... it's an act of helping someone who doesn't necessarily benefit you."
