Singer/songwriter Mason Jennings [ tickets ] will hit the road this fall to support his latest studio album, "Blood of Man," which surfaced last month.

The Hawaiian-born performer mounts up for the trek Oct. 22 in Burlington, VT, and the 17-city outing lingers heavily in the Midwest, with a few shows further out west, including a Nov. 13 appearance in Denver. The run comes to a close Nov. 22 in Minneapolis. Dates are below.

In a message posted at his website, the typically acoustic performer said that he was inspired to record the mostly-electric "Blood of Man" when one of his young sons pointed at an electric-guitar Christmas ornament and asked what it was. Jennings retrieved a guitar and amp, plugged in, and played The Who's "My Generation" for the two boys.

"I grew up playing only electric and it was like remembering how to be free. For many reasons, it was so needed. So I got free," he said, adding that he went into the studio the next week to begin recording the new set.

The album follows last year's "In The Ever," Jennings' sixth full-length album and his first for Jack Johnson's Brushfire Records label.
