'Megadeth Radio' hits the Internet

Thrash-metal veterans Megadeth have joined the roster of acts who have launched their own online radio station via A.P.E. radio, which is also home to custom channels from Weezer, Christina Aguilera and the Eagles.

Dubbed "Megadeth Radio," the new Internet radio station features programming from Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine, who has "complete creative control in the programming of his 24-hour channel," according to a press release.

"Megadeth has been on the forefront of music for over 25 years," Mustaine said in a prepared statement. "Now we're breaking ground in radio. We're giving metalheads everywhere a look inside and an opportunity to see what influences our world and music."

A sampling of "Megadeth Radio" revealed cuts from Mustaine's pioneering metal act, as well as a varied mix of tunes heavy on classic rock and metal, including vintage cuts from Metallica (the band in which Mustaine got his start), KISS, Queen, Blue Oyster Cult, Grand Funk Railroad, Alice In Chains, Dio, The Rolling Stones and AC/DC. Other tracks included live versions of Megadeth's "Symphony of Destruction" and Faith No More's "Epic," as well as studio cuts from relative newcomers Lamb of God and Machine Head.

Between the musical selections, Mustaine can be heard talking about a variety of topics, including his band's influences, the subject matter for their songs, and his soon-to-open San Diego guitar/music school, where he plans to teach underprivileged youths.

"Megadeth Radio"--which hits the Internet today (10/22)--is available via Clear Channel Radio's "iheartradio" network, which includes "Radio Weezer," "Christina Aguilera Radio" and "Eagles Radio Hosted by Joe Walsh."

Fans can participate in "Megadeth Radio" by emailing their comments to megadeth@aperadio.com, or by calling 866-686-1010.

Founded by Mustaine in 1983, Megadeth has released 12 studio albums, six live albums, two EPs, 26 singles and 32 music videos, according to a press release. The group has sold more than 20 million albums worldwide, with six consecutive albums achieving platinum certification in the US, and has earned seven consecutive Grammy nominations for Best Metal Performance.

"Endgame," Megadeth's most recent studio set, hit stores last month, and features new lead guitarist Chris Broderick.

Megadeth will support "Endgame" during the upcoming Canadian Carnage tour, which will also feature co-headliners Slayer and support acts Machine Head and Suicide Silence. A subsequent Megadeth headlining tour of the US will follow through the end of the year. Details are shown below.

More information about "Megadeth Radio" is available at the group's website.
