Merle Haggard back at home after lung cancer surgery

Merle Haggard returned home five days after having lung surgery in a Bakersfield, CA, hospital, according to a press release.

Haggard underwent surgery Nov. 3, after doctors discovered a non-small cell lung cancer during a biopsy.

Following the surgery, tests showed that the surgeon was able to eliminate the affected tissue by removing the upper lobe of Haggard's right lung.

Haggard, who, according to a press release, upon waking up after the surgery yodeled and smiled, said he is felling better and better each day.
