Metallica's concert at historic French amphitheater heads for DVD
Metallica 's July 7 concert at the historic Arenes de Nimes Roman amphitheater in Nimes, France, will be available on DVD and Blu-Ray beginning Nov. 23, according to the band's website.
The disc, entitled "Francais Pour Une Nuit" (French For One Night), will include the entire concert, interviews with the band and five videos shot by fans from the audience.
"'Francais Pour Une Nuit' was extra special for us because not only was it filmed in France, but ALL aspects of the project are French, as the show was filmed, recorded, and edited with French camera and recording crews," the band's website statement said. "The artwork on the package and special box set were created by a French design team; even the credits are in French. The only non-French parts: the three Americans and one Dane on stage and the photos shot by Englishman Ross Halfin."
The Arenes de Nimes concert will be available in three configurations: a standard DVD in a digipack that will include a 16 page booklet, a Blu-Ray disc also packaged in a digipack with the booklet, and a deluxe limited-edition box set packaged in a specially-designed tin that includes a copy of the DVD, a copy of the "Death Magnetic" album on CD, a T-shirt (large), laminated pass and five exclusive photos.
The DVD will be available in retail stores in France only. For those on this side of the Pond, the DVD can be purchased at the band's website.
The Rick Rubin-produced "Death Magnetic" album was originally released in September 2008.
