Montgomery Gentry, Jamey Johnson headline Country Throwdown Tour
Montgomery Gentry , Jamey Johnson, Little Big Town and Jack Ingram, among others, will headline the inaugural Country Throwdown Tour next spring as it makes its way across the nation.
The massive production, established by the producers and creators of the Vans Warped Tour, will visit outdoor amphitheaters from May 13 through June 20, though cities and venues have not yet been announced.
The four aforementioned acts are the first of 10 artists who'll headline the main stage; two side stages will feature Eric Church, the Eli Young Band, Jonathan Singleton & The Grove, Lost Trailers, Ryan Bingham and Emily West. More artists will be announced in the coming weeks.
In addition to the three stages, the Bluebird Cafe tent will showcase nine singer/songwriters in an intimate, in-the-round-style setting.
"Being part of this tour is a very exciting prospect for us," Mike Eli of the Eli Young Band said in a press release. "It brings together a group of similar-minded artists. And the organizers have done some impressive things with other tours in the past, and from what we've seen, we're excited about what they're going to do with country music!"
Tickets, which will be available via a February pre-sale, will give fans a chance to get up close and personal in what the organizers are calling the Throwdown Ticket Takeover. Half of the venue will be available as traditional tiered ticketing, in which concertgoers pay more to sit up close, while the remainder of seats will be divvied down the middle, giving fans the opportunity to pay a set rate for seats potentially as close as the front row. Throwdown Ticket Takeover seats will be available while supplies last.
Country duo Montgomery Gentry released their most recent studio effort, "For Our Heroes," earlier this year. The set, which is available exclusively at Cracker Barrel locations nationwide, is an endeavor that benefits the Wounded Warrior Project.
The album broke all of Cracker Barrel's previous sales records, setting records for best-selling opening day, best-selling opening week, and best-selling week of all of the CDs sold for Cracker Barrel. The 12-song album features familiar hits like "Something To Be Proud Of" and "My Town." A portion of the proceeds from the sale of each CD is donated to the Wounded Warrior Project, whose mission is to honor and empower US soldiers injured in battle.
