Mother Hips cruise 'Pacific' on fall/winter headlining tour
Folkie alt-rockers the Mother Hips will set out on the road this fall and winter in support of their latest studio album, "Pacific Dust."
The outing, which kicked off last night (11/12) in the band's native Northern California, continues Friday night (11/13) in Caspar, CA, along the Pacific Coast north of San Francisco. The trek winds into December and beyond, with the group already lining up dates into next March. Details are included below.
"Pacific Dust," the band's seventh full-length studio album, surfaced last month on the Camera label. Produced by the Mother Hips with David Simon Baker, the album follows 2007's "Kiss the Crystal Flake," which ended a six-year hiatus between recordings for the group.
"We came in to this process with no expectations," singer/guitarist Tim Bluhm said in a press release. "We went in to the studio and gathered around a microphone and just jammed for about three hours. We each took home copies of this jam and listened for about a month. Then we came back together and, in a way, tried to re-create the best parts of the demo tape.
"Pacific Dust is part improvisation, part lucid dream, and part sweaty rock concert. It is a big step forward for the Mother Hips."
