Indie-rockers Blitzen Trapper have extended their forthcoming headlining foray into mid-summer as the band gets ready to support a new studio album on the road.

The Portland, OR, natives get things underway June 2 in Spokane, WA. Following a late-spring stretch that includes a June 10 appearance at Bonnaroo in Manchester, TN, the band kicks off the summer leg July 23 in their hometown. The trip concludes with an August slate highlighted by an appearance at the Aug. 6-8 Lollapalooza Festival in Chicago. Dates are at right.

"Destroyer of the Void," Blitzen Trapper's fifth studio album, is due June 8 on Sub Pop. The set was co-produced by the band's frontman, Eric Earley, and fellow Portlander Mike Coykendall (Bright Eyes, M. Ward), who also served as the recording engineer for the band's previous full-length effort, 2008's "Furr."

"There's country. There's hard-rock stuff. There's some piano ballads with strings," Earley told LiveDaily about the new disc last year. "It's hard for me to [compare it to the rest of the catalog] because I have a lot of different things going on. There's rock and folk music, so the new record will be like that. We'll see."

Early and the other members of the group--Erik Menteer (guitar/keyboard), Brian Adrian Koch (drums/vocals), Michael VanPelt, (bass), Drew Laughery (keyboards) and Marty Marquis (guitar, keyboards, vocals)--formed Blitzen Trapper in 2000. The band's self-titled debut was released in 2003.
