Nanci Griffith sets out on long trek for fall
Singer/songwriter Nanci Griffith continues a busy summer trek Friday (7/29), when she's set to take the stage in Wolfeboro, NH, for an appearance at the Great Waters Folk Festival.
The self-styled "folkabilly" artist has a full schedule over the next several months to support of her most recent album, February's "Hearts in Mind."
Her current itinerary, including two supporting dates for folksinger Judy Collins in August, is scheduled to take her through 30 cities before ending with a three-night run starting Oct. 26 in Alexandria, VA.
"Hearts in Mind" was Griffith's first set of original material since 2001's "Clock Without Hands." The 13-song album was also the first self-produced effort by the artist, whose discography now boasts 15 studio releases.
The politically active singer dedicated the album to the "memory of every soldier and every civilian lost to the horrors of war," according to a press release. Singers Jimmy Buffett and Mac MacAnally contributed guest vocals to the set, which was her first for the newly minted Universal imprint New Door Records.
