Nick Cave, Warren Ellis unveil 'White Lunar'

Long-time collaborators Nick Cave and Warren Ellis are anticipating the September release of "White Lunar," a double-disc set featuring music from film scores and soundtracks the two have worked on together in recent years.

The Mute Records release, due in stores Sept. 22, will feature on one disc a number of pieces from recent soundtracks, including 2005's "The Proposition," 2007's "The Assassination of Jesse James" and the forthcoming adaptation of Cormac McCarthy's novel "The Road." On the second disc, music from two documentary scores--2007's "The English Surgeon" and 2009's "The Girls of Phnom Penh"--will accompany four pieces from the Cave and Ellis archives: "Magma," "Zanstra," "Halo" and "Daedalus."

"Listen to it as you might listen to an instrumental album, as some kind of trip," Ellis recommended in a press release.

Cave and Ellis have performed together for more than 15 years, with Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds, The Dirty Three and, most recently, Grinderman.

Cave is set to release his second novel, "The Death of Bunny Munro," Sept. 1.
