Norah Jones lines up theater tour for 2010
Singer/songwriter Norah Jones takes to the road this spring for a two-plus-month, 36-city tour of US theaters to support her recently released album, "The Fall."
The outing is scheduled to get underway March 5 in Tulsa, OK, and currently is set to run through mid-May. Tickets for a select number of shows go on sale beginning Friday (12/4); this weekend's on-sales are listed in the itinerary to the right, and additional on-sale information is posted at Jones' official website.
"The Fall" is Jones' fourth album. In a break from her previous work, she brought on new collaborators, including noted producer and engineer Jacquire King, who has worked with Kings of Leon, Tom Waits and Modest Mouse, among others. She also brought aboard several songwriting collaborators, including Ryan Adams and Okkervil River's Will Sheff.
Among the musicians who backed Jones on the new set are drummers Joey Waronker (Beck, R.E.M.) and James Gadson (Bill Withers), keyboardist James Poyser (Erykah Badu, Al Green), and guitarists Marc Ribot (Tom Waits, Elvis Costello) and Smokey Hormel (Johnny Cash, Joe Strummer).
In related news, Jones will be premiering remixes from "The Fall" this week via three different websites. On Tuesday (12/1), RCRD LBL will debut "That’s What I Said (The NYC Remix by Adrock and Mike D)." On Wednesday (12/2), Stereogum will premiere "Chasing Pirates (Santigold and Snotty Remix)." On Thrusday (12/3), Artist Direct will debut "Chasing Pirates (Droogs Remix)," which was created by a remix collective that included Beck. The remixes will be released digitally and on vinyl on Jan. 12.
