Electronic jam-band Particle [ tickets ] will stay busy in the coming months with a lengthy roadtrip that stretches into the fall and the mid-summer release of a new, live CD and DVD.

The group's roadwork begins later this month on the West Coast, and dates--the bulk of which are set in July--are spread out through mid-October. Details appear below.

Also in July, Particle offers up "Transformations Live," a set that captures the group's performance at the Henry Fonda Theater in Los Angeles this past February. A two-CD audio version and separate DVD-video version arrive in stores July 18, according to the band's website.

The "Transformations Live" set documents Particle's first shows as a quintet. Group founders Steve Molitz (keys), Eric Gould (bass) and Darren Pujalet (drums) split with original guitarist Charlie Hitchcock last year, and subsequently decided to replace him with not one, but two new guitarists: Ben Combe and Darren Pujalet.

Particle's only studio album, "Launchpad," was released in March of 2004. Tom Rothrock (Beck, Foo Fighters) produced the set.

"The Launchpad Remixes," an EP consisting of remixes derived from the title track of their debut album, was also released last year.

Last year, Particle raised their visibility on the jam-band scene when Grateful Dead drummer Mickey Hart recruited the group to form a side project dubbed Hydra, which toured the US. Fans are predicting that the group will next rear its head July 5 at Milwaukee's Summerfest; both Particle and Hart are booked separately for that same date.
