Pearl Jam adds North American dates to summer schedule

Pearl Jam has booked a pair of headlining dates this summer to warm up for the two festival appearances the band has lined up for later in the year.

The grunge-rock veterans will appear Aug. 21 in Toronto and Aug. 23 in Chicago, followed by the band's headlining appearance at the Aug. 28-30 Outside Lands Festival in San Francisco. Later in the year, the group tackles an Oct. 4 slot at Austin, TX's Austin City Limits Festival, with Pearl Jam serving as co-headliners along with Dave Matthews Band and Beastie Boys.

The band will also play a few European shows this summer. Those dates can be found at the official Peal Jam website.

Additionally, singer Eddie Vedder kicks off his latest solo tour June 8 in Albany, NY. Vedder will hit eight cities on the outing in June and early July; dates are included below.

In March, the Pearl Jam issued a shiny new version of its breakthrough 1991 debut album, "Ten." The initial volley in a campaign to re-release all of the group's studio albums by Pearl Jam's 20th anniversary in 2011, the revamped "Ten" includes the original version of the album, plus a new remix of the set done by the band's long-time producer, Brendan O'Brien, who has produced a number of the group's post-debut recordings.

"The band loved the original mix of 'Ten,' but were also interested in what it would sound like if I were to deconstruct and remix it," O'Brien said in a press statement. "The original 'Ten' sound is what millions of people bought, dug and loved, so I was initially hesitant to mess around with that. After years of persistent nudging from the band, I was able to wrap my head around the idea of offering it as a companion piece to the original--giving a fresh take on it, a more direct sound."

Available in four different configurations--including a "super deluxe" edition that includes a DVD, 4 LPs and a replica demo cassette in a linen-covered clamshell box--the non-vinyl versions of the set feature a wide array of extras, including six bonus tracks: "Brother," "Just a Girl," State of Love and Trust," "Breath and a Scream," "2,000 Mile Blues" and "Evil Little Goat."
