Pop Montreal line-up begins to surface

Butthole Surfers , Dinosaur Jr. and Diamanda Galas are among the acts confirmed for this year's Pop Montreal International Music Festival, according to a press release. Other confirmed acts for the fest, which runs from Sept. 30 to Oct. 4, include Fever Ray, Lou Barlow + The Missingmen, Os Mutantes, Roxanne Shante, Faust and Buffy Sainte-Marie.

Several of the acts performing at the event--including Faust, Shante, Galas and Sainte-Marie--also will participate in talks and workshops as part of POP's 2009 Symposium. Additional aspects of the fest once again will include the Film POP series, the Puces POP craft fair, Kids POP events and workshops and Art POP.

This year, the festival also is supporting the Dalai Lama's Oct. 3 talk at the Bell Centre, which is entitled "Educating the Heart: The Power of Compassion."
