Powerman 5000 recharges for new album, tour

Rockers Powerman 5000 will set the table for the forthcoming album, "Destroy What You Enjoy," with a pre-release summer tour, and will then back the set with an early fall outing.

The group's summer outing takes place in July, and focuses on clubs throughout the western half of the US, followed by a September leg that winds through the eastern half of the country. In all, stops are planned in about 40 cities. Details are included below.

On Aug. 1, the group dishes "Destroy What You Enjoy," which features the cut "Wild World." The band shot a video for the song in Los Angeles on Sunday (6/11), according to a press release.

"We're shooting most of it in an abandoned crack house," band frontman Spider said in a statement issued just prior to the shoot. The video will "showcase the band's high energy live performance, and will be co-directed by Jeff Stewart and Spider," according to a press release.

PM5K's lineup, which has changed numerous times over the years, features mainstay frontman Spider, who is the only remaining original member, as well as longtime members Adrian Ost (drums) and Siggy Siursen (bass), along with the most recent arrivals, guitarists Terry Corso (ex-Alien Ant Farm) and Johnny Rock (ex-Half-Cocked).

"The entire history of this band has been filled with chaos and uncertainty. I've seen the highest of highs and lowest of lows," Spider said in the band's latest bio sheet. "I've seen long time members disappear and record companies crumble. Though, through it all, the result has always been loud, obnoxious, uncompromising rock 'n' roll. If all the bulls--- and drama helped me create this new record, then I don't regret a moment of it. 'Destroy What You Enjoy' is our best yet."
