Maynard James Keenan's Puscifer takes show on the road
Puscifer , the latest musical endeavor from Tool frontman Maynard James Keenan, will set out on a North American roadtrip this fall.
The quirky outfit--whose live production is described in a press release as a "multi-media, cabaret-style show"--will kick things off Oct. 29 in Las Vegas, and is scheduled to hit a dozen cities throughout the western US by early December. Two-night stands are booked in a number of those markets, and a one-off Canadian foray is also on the itinerary; details are included below.
"Efforts to confine our beloved enigma to the Southwestern United States have been thwarted," said Keenan, who earlier this year marked Valentine's Day with Puscifer's live debut in Vegas. "We are compelled beyond all reason to bring the noise and share our special sauce. Although authorities suggest you be prepared for any and all possibilities, we simply suggest you arrive happy and hungry."
A Las Vegas Review Journal reporter who covered the February engagement described the show as "a performance-art spectacle equal parts comedy cabaret show, guerrilla theater, lysergic animation sequences, Krautrock-inspired metallic jams and leering lunacy of various stripes."
In 2007, Keenan offered up the debut album from Puscifer. Dubbed "V is for Vagina," the set features a lengthy list of guest musicians, including Mat Mitchell, Tim Alexander, Jonny Polonsky, Danny Lohner, Gil and Rani Sharone, Lustmord, Laura Milligan, Milla Jovovich, Lisa Germano, and Alan Moulder.
A remix album titled "V is for Viagra: The Remixes" surfaced last year. A number of cuts from both sets are streaming at Puscifer's MySpace page.
