Queen's entire catalog soon available on vinyl

Hollywood Records will re-release the entire Queen studio-album catalog on vinyl over the next two years, according to a press release. Each album will feature original packaging, bonus posters, extra photos and all of the other details found in the original releases.

The first installment in the series, titled "The First Wave," was released this week and features "A Night at the Opera," "A Day at the Races," "Sheer Heart Attack" and "Queen II," as well as the vinyl version of the new Queen + Paul Rogers release, "The Cosmos Rocks."

"The Second Wave" will be made up of five additional albums, including an edition of the rare gold-foil stamped "Queen" album, "Flash Gordon," "News of the World," "A Kind of Magic" and "Innuendo."

The second set will be released in spring 2009 with new "waves" expected approximately every six months.

In other Queen news, the band, with Paul Rogers, set a Nov. 6 release date for a cinematic version of a recent two-and-a-half hour free concert in Kharkov, Ukraine's Freedom Square. The concert, which drew more than 350,000 people, will play in more than 425 theaters for one night only.

Tickets for the movie, "Queen + Paul Rogers: Let the Cosmos Rock," will be available at theater box offices and at Fathom Events' website.
